Renovation of Georgian Townhouse Once Lived in By Vincent Van Gogh

Client Name: Copues Construction
Location: Ramsgate, Kent
Date of work: May 2019

The Problem

The property is a Georgian Townhouse in Spencer Sq, Ramsgate. The house, originally built in 1827, was a former home and work place to Vincent van Gogh. The building was suffering from various damp patches internally, a complete failing slate roof and badly carried out pointing where the incorrect materials had been used at different times. As well as contributing to the internal damp, the incorrect pointing had damaged some of the brickwork.

The Solution

Works carried out were:

Rack out and repoint in Total Wall Care Lime Pointing Mortar
Clean down all brickwork and new pointing with a mild watered down brick cleaner
Carried out brick repairs using Total Wall Care Brick Repair Mortar and tinting to all bricks using Total Wall Care Brick Tint
When fully dried, applied a coat of silicone clear waterproofer to all areas that dries back to original condition
In addition, complete new slate and lead roof was installed, all to match original roof.

Copues Construction have high standards and regularly use products from our Total Wall Care range because they meet their demands. As you can see, the results speak for themselves.
